I had already taken a few shots, and was speaking with someone else out there taking photographs. I was in the midst of explaining some point or other, and glanced back up at the rock face, and was shocked to see the moon had just risen above it! I stopped in mid-sentence, quickly put on the 100-400 and snapped a few shots. I was amazed at how quickly the moon moved, and how little time there was to get a shot with it close enough to the cliff. Canon 100-400 at 400 mm, ISO 100, f/22, 1/6 second (tripod-mounted).
