This shot was actually taken just down the street from the condo where we were staying, where some bushes attracted a fair number of butterflies. This specimen had a slight scratch across its right wing which I repaired in Photoshop. Canon 100-400 with Canon 1.4x II Teleconverter, at 560 mm, ISO 400, f/8, 1/640 second, aperture priority, EV +2/3, natural light, Wimberley Sidekick/Arca Swiss Ballhead/Bogen-Manfrotto monopod.
