This strikingly beautiful bird was similar in appearance and nesting habits to the Montezuma Oropendula we frequently saw in Costa Rica, but seemed to be on the smaller side. While driving around, we came across a cluster of the distinctive hanging nests of this species, and get out, set up, and waited for the birds to return. We hoped to get shots of them entering the nests, but this was incredibly difficult, as not many birds returned, and when they entered the nests, they flew down, and went in, in what seemed to be a fraction of a second. I had to settle for some shots of them way up in the trees, as they checked us out below.
