Not long after the shooting frenzy of the past several images, this Laughing Falcon was heard and spotted, and it gave us a wonderful demonstration of the "laughing" for which it is named. Not surprisingly, the sun's position couldn't have been much worse, and once again, I had to rely on Photoshop to bring out the shadow detail. I did have the flash in use, trying to provide some light to the heavily backlit body, but this particular frame was taken before the flash had recycled from the prior shot. And actually, given the bird's distance (this image is fairly heavily cropped), in the images where the flash did fire (using the 550EX with the Better Beamer), I really couldn't see much difference.
