This was taken the morning we were going to be leaving Villa Caletas, after a 3-night stay. I was up a little bit early, and went to the area where we would be eating breakfast to wait for the others. While there, I spotted this Aracari in the trees right off the balcony area where we eat! It would have taken too long to set up the 600, so I grabbed the nearest available equipment and shot a few frames before it took off. A little fill-flash would have helped, but there was no time to find/mount the flash. I had to work this image in Photoshop, using the Shadows/Highlights tool, along with curves/levels, to bring out the natural beauty and colors of this wonderful bird. This was another new species for me!
