Even with staying up until after midnight to watch and shoot the volcanic activity, most of us were still up before dawn, excited to once again glimpse Arenal at work. Here you can begin to appreciate the approach of sunrise, providing some color and light to the sky behind the volcano. Interestingly, we found out the next day that at least one of the other lodges, which are located pretty much in the path of any major eruption, were evacuated for a few hours, because of a burst of activity, and uncertainty about whether or not anything more calamatous was in the works. Fortunately, things settled down, and no further action was needed.
