After spending a rather disappointing week at St. Augustine, FL, we headed down to Merritt Island NWR, not expecting to see too much (thinking it was a bit early in the season). But we were pleasantly surprised to see a large number of fairly brightly colored Roseate Spoonbills. A number of them were close enough to the loop road to allow for some exciting shooting. I really love this species, and have not seen that many of them, and definitely not this close up.
