Upper Antelope Canyon/Lake Powell

After spending several days at Zion and Bryce, we headed to Lake Powell and the Page, AZ area. This portion of the trip ended up being the climax for me: I had seen and loved photographs of the various slot canyons throughout this area, and I was hoping to get some shots of these exquisite rock formations. As we did our research and made plans for the various stops, I had been in touch with Antelope Canyon Tours, and reserved a slot in their "photographers" tour of Upper Antelope Canyon.

I was initially disappointed as the "photographers" tour only meant that after driving you out to the Canyon, and giving you a quick orientation, they left you there to shoot for 4 hours instead of 2 hours (the "non-photographers" tour). But as I'll describe in the succeeding pages, I didn't leave disappointed.

We also took a half-day boat trip on Lake Powell, with the obligatory stop at Rainbow Natural Bridge. While thousands of pictures have been taken of this unique site, it still was exciting to be there and try to come out with a few of my own.
