We left the Everglades area one day early, to give us an opportunity to do some shooting at the Viera Wetlands. We had heard good things about this location, but scheduling didn't allow a stop on the way down. We were not disappointed. During our first drive around the loop, we came across the Sandhill Crane sitting on its nest, a fairly short distance from the road. It was in a very nice setting as well, with a few purple flowers behind it. It would be great to live around this area, and come back as the eggs hatched, the chicks grew up and fledged, etc.
