We hiked into Carara National park the first morning we spent at Jaco Beach. We went after breakfast, and it was already getting pretty hot, with the sun relatively high in the sky. We did see some Toucans, an Agouti, a Boat-billed Heron, an Anhinga swallowing a fairly large fish, and a Spiny Iguana, as well as the crocodile above, so it was worth the trip for me. Next time, though, I think I'll opt to go around sunrise.
