There was a large Butterfly Garden area at the La Paz facility, and we spent a fair amount of time looking at the wide variety of species they housed. The sun came and went, and when it was out, I used ambient light only, switching to flash when clouds reduced ambient light too low. I let my wife use the 100-400 zoom, which I normally use to shoot butterflies, and I just kept the 100 mm macro lens on my camera the whole time at La Paz. The butterflies were fairly active, but I was still able to get close enough at times for adequate shots.
