We shot at Bosque from Friday through Sunday, and I've included a few more shots here, of some of the animals we saw besides the Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese. We awoke Monday morning to heavy snow, and headed west towards Holbrook, AZ to spend a couple of days at the Petrified National Forest and Painted Desert area. We didn't see much of the sun, but enjoyed what we did see. Our next destination was Canyon de Chelly, near Chinle, AZ. We hired an Indian guide, and thoroughly enjoyed spending a full morning with him, as he drove us through the Navajo lands, accessible only with a local guide. The sun was bright, the skies were blue, and we had an awesome experience.

Monument Valley was our final location, for an additional 2 days of shooting. We had previously contacted Fred Cly, a well-known Indian guide, and spent an incredible day with him, from before sunrise, to just after sunset. He was extremely knowledgeable, and had many stories to share from his own life, and that of his father, who among other things, was a famous stunt man in many of the John Wayne movies filmed out there. If I ever go back there, I'll definitely enlist his services again. If you are planning to spend time out there, feel free to email me, and I'll be happy to provide Fred's contact information.

The last 3 images in this Gallery are from a trip we took to St. Augustine, FL Christmas week. Poor weather, followed by a nasty stomach bug, prevented us from doing much for most of the week, but we finally managed to head down to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge for a few hours of shooting. The weather was incredible, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of beautifully colored Roseate Spoonbills. A few times they were reasonably close to the wildlife trail road, and I was able to get some tight shots of one of my favorite birds.
